- Sigourney Weaver recently won the prestigious Golden Lion lifetime achievement award at the Venice Film Festival, and was seen hand in hand with her child Shar Simpson
- The Avatar actress has said that her kid is ‘the most important thing’ to her: ‘My family comes first and I’m so grateful to them that they let me go off and make films’
Weaver wore a shimmering sequinned black top and velvet skirt to the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice premiere at the film festival last week. She was also awarded the Golden Lion lifetime achievement award at the event.
Shar, 34, who is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, coordinated with their mother in a flattering black dress.
Weaver may have won international acclaim with an acting career spanning five decades, but the Alien actress has previously spoken about how motherhood has been the role of a lifetime.
“[Shar] is absolutely the most important thing to me. My family comes first and I’m so grateful to them that they let me go off and make films,” the actress told The Guardian in a 2010 interview. “But, you know, I find it very difficult to leave them. I hate it. I have had therapy and found it helpful in dealing with the guilt I’ve felt about leaving them,” she continued. “Going to New Zealand to make Avatar when my [child] was applying to colleges almost killed me.”
Despite having the legendary Sigourney Weaver as a mother, Shar has always kept a relatively low profile. So what do we know about Shar Simpson?
