- Franceschini inherited his acting chops from actor father Gianni, and his family owns a theatre company called Viva Opera Circus in Rome where the young actor scored his first roles
- And while we’re about to find out how his story with Emily evolves in the Netflix show, Franceschini’s IRL private life remains enigmatic
The much anticipated season 4 of Netflix’s Emily in Paris premiered this week – and a handsome new face has joined the cast.
So just who is Eugenio Franceschini? Here’s what you need to know about the Verona-born 32-year-old.
He’s starred in a string of Italian shows
In Italy, Franceschini is best known as a television actor who’s been in shows such as Medici and Non Mi Lasciare, and starred in romcoms such as Sapore di te and Maldamore, for which he won the Guglielmo Biraghi Award at the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists.
He will play ‘Marcello’ in Emily in Paris
In April, Franceschini was spotted laughing with co-star Lily Collins on the Emily in Paris set in Rome. Prior to the release of the new series, Netflix described Franceschini’s character in the show, Marcello, as “direct, confident, and valu[ing] simplicity”.
“He’s substantive but never flashy,” the short bio reads, “true to the roots of his family’s company”, implying he might be the scion to an Italian fashion house.
