  • After a misleading tweet by a UK tabloid implied that Sports Illustrated model and actress Brooklyn Decker was a fan of Donald Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance, the star took to Instagram to clarify
  • Not only is the model-turned-entrepreneur a supporter of women-owned businesses, but she’s said she’s putting her money where her mouth is and donating to Kamala Harris’ campaign

Actress and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Brooklyn Decker has been forced to make her stance on the US presidential election clear after a recent tweet by UK tabloid the Daily Mail suggested she was a supporter of Donald Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance.

In the X post, the newspaper wrote that the Just Go with It star had given “props” to Vance for “helping her understand her family on a deeper level”, hinting at an endorsement.

The actress then took to her Instagram Stories to explain that she had simply “read the book [Vance’s memoir Hillbilly Elegy] when it came out and found it to be very interesting”, per Cover Media. She added that the statement was made in 2020 for a Society Texas magazine interview and was being taken out of context to “support a candidate that they like”.

After president Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential election and endorsed his vice-president Kamala Harris, the new candidate managed to raise a whopping US$81 million for her campaign in 24 hours.

Decker has since publicly announced her support for Harris, especially in light of the misleading article indicating her support for Vance. “In honour of this hilariously egregious article, I am donating to @kamalaharris for President. You can too!” she wrote on Instagram.

She says she owes her career to Sports Illustrated

Decker made her grand return to Sports Illustrated for its 60th-anniversary issue and shared with the publication how the brand changed her life. “I started out as this very green, very new, very naive young woman who loved sports. And they said, ‘Let’s put you on si.com … got me my first agent, [who is] still my agent … my first pilot for NBC … and that quickly turned into an acting career thanks to Sports Illustrated”.
