In an interview with People on June 25, the actor shared what he knew about the situation so far. “I haven’t spoken to him in a while and I feel like everyone has their opinion, and I don’t know for sure,” he said.
“I feel like even if I did know, I probably wouldn’t want to share that, but I really don’t,” he added.
“If someone decides to rent [a] place [it] doesn’t mean they’re necessarily separating,” he noted. “I know from having two kids, it’s like, sometimes you just need a break – especially if you’re like, ‘Hey, I’m going to be writing this script and I need just two weeks to focus.’”
“But yeah, no, I haven’t spoke to him,” he clarified.
In May, Mewes was asked by TMZ whether he’d heard the speculation that Bennifer was “on the rocks” to which he replied, “I don’t know if that’s true. I don’t believe that.” He noted that maybe they were just busy working or it’s “too much with the kids”.
The Gone Girl actor and “Jenny From the Block” singer have been married for two years, and have recently been in the news for a rumoured rift.

The 50-year-old actor has been very candid about his sobriety journey. In an interview with People this month, he said that he is celebrating 14 years of being sober this year. “I feel good,” he shared. “On July 2, I have 14 years sober. So that’s been great. That’s been a very big deal for me.”
Per the outlet, he was arrested for heroin in 1999, and moved in with childhood friend Kevin Smith soon after, who helped him get clean. “In the past, [Smith] would always try to help me like, ‘Hey, if you don’t want to miss out on this opportunity then you need to either go into rehab or you’re going to come stay with me and you’re going to stick by my side,’” Mewes shared on the Steve-O’s Wild Ride! podcast.

Mewes is married to his wife Jordan Monsanto, and the couple share two children: 16-month-old son Lucien, and nine-year-old daughter Logan, per People. They tied the knot in an intimate civil ceremony back in 2009. Monsanto also works in the film industry, and has served as a producer on projects including Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019), comedy horror Tusk (2014) and Clerks III (2022), according to her IMDB.
