Who is Dave Grohl’s daughter, Violet? Her Foo Fighters dad just seemingly mocked Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, and the internet thinks it’s because she was ‘cyberbullied’ by Swifties earlier this year
Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and his daughter Violet don’t seem to care though, and are ready to put up a fight. Last Saturday, during the group’s show at London Stadium, Dave implied that Swift doesn’t play live, as reported by Forbes.
“That’s because we actually play live,” he said.
Fans of the billionaire pop star quickly took to social media to criticise the former Nirvana drummer for his “unprovoked” and “misogynistic” comments against Swift, who he previously said good things about.
“Why can’t Taylor Swift just drive like everyone else,” she posted in January. Swifties then trolled her and even reportedly sent her death threats, and Violet deleted her social media accounts, per Business Insider.
Here’s what we know about Violet Grohl:
Violet Grohl is Dave Grohl and Jordyn Blum’s eldest daughter
According to People, Violet, who’s now 18, is Dave’s eldest daughter with his wife Jordyn Blum. The couple have since welcomed two more daughters: Harper Willow in 2009, and Ophelia Saint in 2014.
She is following in her father’s footsteps
The Los Angeles-born teen seems to have inherited her father’s musical talents. Per People, she appeared next to Dave in 2018 to cover Adele’s “When We Were Young” at a benefit in Oakland for the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals. The pair recorded a cover of X’s 1980 song “Nausea” in 2021. She’s also covered Jeff Buckley onstage at a 2022 tribute concert for Taylor Hawkins, Dave’s late bandmate, with her father playing drums.
In a 2007 interview with People, Dave talked about the music his daughter loved as a toddler. “Violet loves the Amy Winehouse record,” he said. “It’s all about the ‘Rehab’ song. If she hears, ‘Try to make me go to rehab,’ Violet will go, ‘No, no, no.’ I know, it’s a little weird, but it’s really cute!”
Did Taylor Swift respond to Dave Grohl?
According to Today, it appears that Swift might’ve addressed Dave’s controversial comments about her possibly not singing live at her concerts.
In London, on Sunday, she praised her band and crew in a statement following her performance of “Champagne Problems”.
“What you just did is an unforgettable moment in not just my life, but every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band who’s going to be playing live for you for three-and-a-half hours tonight, they deserve this so much,” Swift said, according to footage shared on X.
“And so does every one of my fellow performers. And you just gave that to us so generously – we will never forget it.”
