Lunden Roberts is breaking her silence following this week’s news of her baby daddy Hunter Biden’s conviction on federal gun charges.

Roberts is the mother of Biden’s five-year-old daughter, Navy Joan. Joe Biden was previously criticised for failing to publicly acknowledge Navy as one of his grandkids. The American president finally did so last year, notes USA Today.

“You have to respect the judicial system and also respect that all individuals are held accountable regardless of who they are and where they come from … but as the mother of Hunter’s child, my primary concern has always been the well-being of her and the future for her and his relationship,” Roberts told NewsNation on June 11, responding to Hunter’s conviction.

Roberts is also set to publish a memoir, Out of the Shadows: My Life Inside the Wild World of Hunter Biden, in August this year.

Hunter is currently married to his second wife, Melissa Cohen Biden, with whom he also shares a child. Hunter has three more kids, Naomi, Finnegan and Maisy, with his ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle.

According to her author bio, 33-year-old Roberts hails from Batesville, Arkansas. She is described as a mother, author and financial officer. Per the same source, she enjoyed an “all-star basketball career” at Arkansas State University, where she studied criminal justice and psychology.

According to previous reports, Biden was believed to have met Roberts at the strip club where she worked while she was also studying crime scene investigation at graduate school. However, Roberts writes in her memoir that the pair actually met at a small party in Washington DC, at the offices of Biden’s investment firm, Rosemont Seneca. Per her author bio, Roberts worked as Biden’s executive assistant at Rosemont Seneca and other “business entities”.

Per Vanity Fair, Biden fathered his fourth child, Navy Joan Roberts, in August 2018. According to People, he denied paternity at first, but DNA testing confirmed that he was indeed Navy’s dad.

Roberts has been keeping busy lately. According to her author bio, she currently serves as the financial controller for her family-owned business, Rob Roberts Custom Gunworks. The bio adds that she is set to launch a fashion line – and that she serves as an “advocate for women with unplanned pregnancies”.

Besides these ventures, Roberts has an anticipated tell-all book called Out of the Shadows: My Life Inside the Wild World of Hunter Biden, which will detail her romance with Biden, and is set to be released on August 20.

The book’s excerpt reads: “He was sitting there wearing nothing but parrot boxer briefs, organising his pipes on his Rosemont Seneca desk. I was sitting in Barack Obama’s actual chair from the Senate floor. I took another look at Hunter – this kind, intense and startlingly transparent man – and thought, ‘This is definitely a guy I want to get to know better.’”

Roberts’ public Instagram account showcases her designer-clad, jet-setting lifestyle. As seen on her profile, she favours designer handbags from the likes of Gucci and Louis Vuitton.

According to US media, Joe has previously come across as dismissive of his one illegitimate grandchild, often claiming to have six rather than seven grandkids. However, a source close to the Bidens told People magazine that this was believed to be the most thoughtful course of action until legal proceedings between Hunter and Roberts had played out.

Joe did acknowledge the existence of Navy Joan in July last year, however. In a statement released to People magazine, the US president said, “Our son Hunter and Navy’s mother, Lunden, are working together to foster a relationship that is in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward.”

“This is not a political issue – it’s a family matter,” the statement continued. “Jill and I only want what is best for all of our grandchildren, including Navy.”
