Grande, 30, has been open about her relationship with her mum and dad over the years, though they have remained largely out of the spotlight. Here’s what we know about it:

What do Ariana Grande’s parents do for work?

Ariana comes from an impressive – and wealthy – family, per Collider. Her mum is the president and CEO of Hose-McCann Communications, according to People. In an interview with Complex back in 2013, Ariana talked about her mum’s thriving career. “My mum is a CEO and owns a company that manufactures communications equipment for the Marines and the Navy, so she’s not really the housewife type, if you get what I’m saying,” she said, “She’s the most badass, independent woman you’ll ever meet – not the cookies-in-the-oven type.”

Meanwhile, her father has a creative streak. According to the same source, Butera is a graphic designer, photographer and owner of a creative studio called Ibi Designs.

Are Ariana Grande’s parents still together?

Ariana’s parents aren’t together any more. As reported by Entertainment Tonight, the Disney alum’s mum and dad split up when she was eight years old. She seemingly references this in her 2018 hit song “Thank u, next”: “One day I’ll walk down the aisle; holding hands with my mama; I’ll be thanking my dad; ‘Cause she grew from the drama.”

Joan also has another child from her previous marriage – Ariana’s older brother Frankie Grande, who’s a dancer, actor, singer, producer, TV host and YouTuber.

Ariana Grande has had her ups and downs with her father

The “We Can’t Be Friends” songstress has also talked about her previously estranged relationship with her father in a 2014 interview with Seventeen. “It’s private, but it happened last year,” she told the publication. “It took me so long to be OK with it. The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that I am made up of half my dad, and a lot of my traits come from him.”

They seem to have reconciled in recent years, with Grande bringing her pop to the 2020 Grammys. He was at her 2021 wedding to her now ex-husband Dalton Gomez.

Ariana talks very highly of her mother, who has supported her through her rise to fame. According to People, Joan was present at her daughter’s 2017 concert in Manchester, where a bomber horrifically killed 22 people.

“I was like a fish swimming in the wrong direction. Everyone was leaving, and I was going toward the stage,” Joan told Elle a year after the incident. “I didn’t know where I was going. I just knew I was going to my daughter. Not to be too dramatic – I struggle with this every day – but I didn’t know what I would find when I got to her. I sympathise with every parent who was waiting for a child. Those minutes when you don’t know what’s happening … there are no words.”
