Sex and the City – the show that defined an era with its bold take on relationships, fashion and city life – celebrated its 26th birthday last week. From the cocktails and conversation to the heartthrobs and heartbreaks, the show wasn’t just about the fab four, but also about the unforgettable men who stole their hearts.

The show’s male cast grabbed just as much attention as the four leading ladies of the HBO hit – Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrall. From Chris Noth to John Corbett and beyond, here is what the actors have been up to since the series’ six-season run and two movies – with some still making an appearance in the ongoing sequel series, And Just Like That.

1. John Corbett, 63

Before playing Carrie’s on-again-off-again beau Aidan Shaw, John Corbett was already a star, snagging an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his role on the 90s television series Northern Exposure.

On SATC, Aidan’s relationship with Carrie was a roller coaster marked by a broken engagement and a fling with Mr Big. After the show, Corbett shone in movies like My Big Fat Greek Wedding and series like Parenthood.

But he’s not only an actor – he’s also a country singer with two albums, and he’s lived with his wife, Bo Derek, since 2002, per Us Weekly.

After SATC, the two-time Golden Globe nominee, best known for his role as Mr Big – Carrie’s charismatic but commitment-phobic boyfriend on the show – starred as Peter Florrick on The Good Wife and appeared in shows like Tyrant and Gone.

However, his career faced controversy with multiple sexual assault allegations in late 2021. According to Variety, following these allegations, Noth was dropped by A3 Artists Agency and fired from CBS’s The Equalizer.

3. Willie Garson, 57

Outside her fabulous quartet, Carrie’s other bestie was the ever-chic Stanford Blatch, played by Willie Garson. Stanford’s hilarious rivalry with Anthony – their antagonism kicked off following a disastrous first date arranged by Charlotte – ended in an unexpected marriage in the second SATC movie. Also known for his role as Mozzie on White Collar, Garson had a dazzling career with over 50 films and 300 TV episodes, per his IMDB page.

Sadly, he passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2021 at 57. Garson, an accomplished poker player, adopted his son Nathen in 2010 and was filming And Just Like That, the awaited Sex and The City sequel, just before his untimely passing.

4. Kyle MacLachlan, 65

Kyle MacLachlan, known before SATC for his roles in David Lynch’s Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet, played Charlotte’s ex-husband Trey MacDougal. Since then, he’s joined shows like Desperate Housewives and How I Met Your Mother.

Before SATC, he won a Golden Globe for Twin Peaks and earned Emmy nominations in 1990 and 1991. Per Us Weekly, he reprised his role as Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks: The Return in 2017, co-owns a wine label, and is a father.

He’s also ventured into the world of true crime podcasts. According to Podcast News Daily, he co-hosts Varnamtown, a series that dives into real-life investigations, teaming up with journalist Joshua Davis.

5. David Eigenberg, 60

In the final season of Sex and the City, Mikhail Baryshnikov played Aleksandr Petrovsky, Carrie’s artistic and aloof lover who whisks her away to Paris. Renowned for his extraordinary ballet career, Baryshnikov was a principal dancer with both the New York City Ballet and the American Ballet Theatre, later becoming its artistic director, per The Guardian. He also founded the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York City.

  • It’s not just the 4 leading ladies, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrall, who saw their careers changed with the show – so did the men, from John Corbett to David Eigenberg
