Meet WNBA superstar and Skims model Kelsey Plum: the athlete broke the internet twice in 2 days with her daring Alexander Wang micro vest and Kim Kardashian partnership, and she’s about to be divorced
- The point guard drew praise for rocking a confident Alexander Wang ensemble at the Las Vegas Aces’ season opener, less than a month after she and New York Giants’ Darren Waller filed for divorce
- The social media moment came one day after Plum ‘broke the internet’ with her appearance in a Kim Kardashian Skims campaign, also starring Dijonai Carrington, Skylar Diggins-Smith and Candace Parker
Kelsey Plum is a basketball star who in 2021 won the gold medal in women’s 3x3 basketball at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and in 2022 was named MVP in her first WNBA All-Star game. Her team, the Las Vegas Aces, won the last two WNBA Finals, in 2022 and 2023.
Already firmly on the radar of basketball fans, the 29-year-old California native caught the attention of the wider internet this month after arriving for her first game of the season on May 14 in a black leather micro vest from Alexander Wang with nothing underneath.
In low-slung black leather trousers and carrying a black patent leather crescent handbag, the point guard paired the authoritative ensemble with plenty of silver jewellery. A cross pendant nearly as long as her torso swung against her bare cleavage as she walked, and she also donned silver bracelets, earrings and rings.
To complete the look, Plum opted for a sleek updo and retro cat-eye sunglasses – also in black. Captioning her IG post “Ring night”, Plum went on to pose with a massive sparkler: her 2023 WNBA championship ring.
So who is Kelsey Plum, and what’s been her journey to stardom in the WNBA and on social media? Here’s everything we know.
Kelsey Plum comes from a sporty family
The WNBA star inherited plenty of athletic genes from her parents. While at university, her mother Katie played volleyball at national level, representing the University of California, Davis. Per Essentially Sports, Katie is still involved in volleyball and works as an athletic trainer.
