The show followed the competitive dance world through the Abby Lee Dance Company, showcasing talents such as Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler, Nia Sioux, Chloé Lukasiak and Brooke Hyland as they competed across the US as kids under the guidance of choreographer and dance instructor, Abby Lee Miller. The series also put a spotlight on the relationships between Miller, the young dancers and their mums – hence the name.
