The actor had a net worth of US$120 million at the time of his death, per Hollywood Reporter. His will, which he wrote in 2009, details that he wanted to leave a majority of his assets to his private trust, The Alvy Singer Living Trust, named after the main character played by Woody Allen in his 1977 film Annie Hall, People reported.

Aside from his immediate family, the actor named an ex-girlfriend, Rachel Dunn, as a trust beneficiary despite only having dated her for two years from 2003 to 2005.

Matthew Perry and Rachel Dunn had a large age gap

Originally from Cambridge, UK, Dunn moved to the US to study fashion, per British media.

The pair began dating in 2003 when Dunn was 19 and Perry was 35, with their 14-year age gap drawing quite a bit of attention.

The couple eventually ended their relationship in 2005 – but more on that later.

Perry credited Dunn with bringing stability to his life

Fortunately, the pair got together during a period where Perry was clean from drugs and alcohol, per British media.

In a 2004 interview with the Evening Standard, Perry credited his then girlfriend Dunn with providing stability in his life.

“With Rachel in my life, I know that I can be very committed and not some selfish guy who just wants to hang out with friends. I want to spend time with my girlfriend and explore what it means to have a much closer relationship than I’ve previously had time for,” he said in the interview.

She was his “one that got away”

Perry expressed his intent to settle down with Dunn multiple times. For him, it seems that she was the one. So what went wrong?

In his 2022 memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing, Perry describes Dunn as the “ex-girlfriend of his dreams”. He further reveals that he almost proposed to her – but pulled a classic Chandler Bing instead by sabotaging their relationship and breaking up.

“I often think if I’d asked [her to marry me], now we’d have two kids and a house with no view, who knows – I wouldn’t need the view, because I’d have her to look at; the kids, too,” Perry wrote in his book. “Instead, I’m some schmuck who’s alone in his house at 53, looking down at an unquiet ocean.”

The pair ended their relationship on good terms around the same time Perry was wrapping up the final season of Friends. A source revealed, “There was no drama involved, just a commitment by Matthew to stay focused on his sobriety,” as per People.

This is perhaps why he still added Dunn to his will, which he wrote four years after their split.

There is little known about Dunn after her break-up with Perry.
