The Princess of Wales’ uncle, her mum Carole Middleton’s younger brother, has been dubbed with nicknames like the “outcast”, “party lover” and “the king of fun” over the years – a far cry from the polished and proper reputation that many of the other people around Middleton have earned and tried to maintain.

“I’m the uncle of the future queen of our country,” he said in his intro video for the show. He adds, “Every part of me is riddled with mischief and danger.”

It’s unclear why he’s decided to join the reality TV world, but British media has speculated that it could be motivated either by financial gain or the pursuit of fame. Other contestants on the show will include Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh, Katie Price and Shirley Ballas.

Some royalists have also criticised Goldsmith’s decision to join the series, especially when the world has been wondering about the whereabouts of the Princess of Wales, who was out of the public eye until recently. She was reportedly recovering from the abdominal surgery she underwent in January.

Here’s what we know about Kate Middleton’s “embarrassing” 58-year-old uncle as he enters reality TV.
