How does Christie Brinkley age so well – at 70? The Sports Illustrated supermodel says she retains her youthful looks by being vegetarian, petting her dogs … and doing squats while drying her hair
Christie Brinkley turns 70 on February 2 – and she’s wholeheartedly embracing her seventh decade with open arms.
“Sometimes when people get older, and they overdo it, they can look waxy and – I don’t know what the word is – preserved or something. I want a little life to show on my face, you know?” she shared.
She later revealed to People that she “remains open” to a relationship, but “there just doesn’t seem to be anybody out there”. “At the same time,” she continued, “I am pretty comfortable with my life the way it is, so, que sera, sera!”
However, being in the limelight certainly has its setbacks, with the supermodel still being scrutinised for her appearance even now. When she posted a selfie to Instagram last June with the caption “downtown girl”, she received a wave of negative comments about the way she looked. She updated the caption to clap back at the haters, referring to them as the “wrinkle brigade”, per People. “It must be some form of compensation for something they are lacking,” she added.
Haters aside, it’s clear that Brinkley looks amazing – especially for her age. Here’s how she keeps up her forever youthful appearance.
Christie Brinkley follows three crucial steps
Brinkley has always been willing to share her tips and tricks to staying young.
She also added that it’s better to be loud and proud about your age – it is just a number after all. “I think every woman should declare her age, because 69 ain’t what it used to be, and it’s up to us to reshape that number and give it a new image, a makeover,” Brinkley explained.
Her workouts
As a model, Brinkley has always stayed on top of her game when it comes to keeping fit. According to her interview with Women’s Health, she incorporates exercise into everything she does – even the most mundane tasks.
“When I’m brushing my teeth, I go up and down on my toes, otherwise I could never wear heels,” she told the publication. One of her favourite workouts is yoga, adds the source.
She tries to mix it up though, telling The Cut that she changes her routine depending on the day: “Whether it’s walking down the beach and moving your arms like you’re swimming, or picking up rocks and walking with them, you really start sweating and breathing heavily.”
She added that even when she’s drying her hair she is “do[ing] all kinds of squats”.
Pet therapy
It’s no secret that Brinkley is very fond of her pets – but it’s also been scientifically proven that having animals around does you good both emotionally and physically.
“I don’t have any scientific research on this, but I feel so calm and relaxed when I’m sitting quietly at night on the couch petting my dogs,” she told The Healthy. “They’re also my personal trainers because they come to me throughout the day saying, ‘Let’s go for a run! Let’s go for a walk! Let’s play outside!’ That’s as good for me as it is for them.”
How many divorces has Christie Brinkley had?
Brinkley, who has three children, has been married four times. She was married to François Allaux from 1973 to 1981; Billy Joey from 1985 to 1994; Richard Taubman from 1994 to 1995; and Peter Cook from 1996 to 2008.
