Who are Angelina Jolie’s parents, Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand? The Eternals actress is known for feuding with her dad over everything from Israel to infidelity, but was close with her late mum
- Angelina Jolie was born in LA to the late actress Marcheline Bertrand and Midnight Cowboy actor Jon Voight, though her parents split up when she was young
- She’s talked about how close she was to her mother – who died of breast cancer at 56 – but has had her ups and downs with her father, who recently criticised his daughter’s stance on Israel
It’s no secret that Angelina Jolie and her Oscar-winning father Jon Voight have had a rocky relationship over the years. In fact, according to British media, it’s become so intense that they’ve had virtually no contact in recent years.
Although they were pictured together on numerous occasions in the early 2000s, they’re rarely seen together in public these days.
However, Voight broke the ice last month when he blasted his daughter for comments she made about the Israel-Gaza war. Jolie had accused Israel of “deliberately bombing children, women, families, deprived of food, medicine and humanitarian aid” in violation of international law, to which her father responded in a video posted on Instagram saying, “I am very disappointed that my daughter, like so many, has no understanding of God’s honour, God’s truths.”
Here’s an update on Angelina Jolie’s famous parents – and what her relationship with them has been like:
