Those who have been binging The Crown’s latest season have probably been wondering what ever happened to Dodi Fayed’s former fiancée – and where she is today.

The Netflix series sheds a light on a lesser-known aspect of Fayed’s life before Diana entered the scene. American model and actress Kelly Fisher, portrayed by Erin Richards, was introduced as Fayed’s girlfriend in season five and reprises her role as his fiancée in the latest season six.

In the series, Dodi’s father, Mohamed Al-Fayed, the late tycoon who once helmed iconic establishments like Harrods department store and the Hôtel Ritz Paris, had reservations about his son’s romantic choices and leaned towards favouring Diana as a potential match.

Unfortunately, the love story between Dodi and Diana was cut short by the tragic 1997 car accident that took both their lives.

But what exactly happened between Fayed and his former fiancée, and where is she in 2023?

As per Time, Fisher is originally from Kentucky and moved to Canada at the age of eight with her father, a company VP. She started modelling at 16 in Toronto and was featured in magazines like Elle, Vogue and Cosmopolitan. Fisher also collaborated with top fashion brands like Armani, Victoria’s Secret and Calvin Klein.

A then-30-year-old Fisher was reportedly holidaying in Paris when she met Fayed, who was 11 years her senior, as per the New York Post. They apparently hit it off instantly, and Fisher mentioned that the Egyptian billionaire proposed to her with a sparkling sapphire and diamond engagement ring merely eight months into their relationship, according to the same source.
