  • Beyoncé and Jay Z, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen, and Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump are just a few of the celebrity couples who have bought property in Miami’s exclusive neighbourhood of Indian Creek
  • The man-made island has just 41 sites with less than 100 residents – and now Bezos, one of the richest men in the world, is relocating there from Seattle after spending 29 years in the city

Tech billionaires still love Miami.

After 29 years in Seattle, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos announced on Thursday that he and his fiancée Lauren Sánchez would soon be moving there.

Bezos’ announcement comes after he snapped up two massive mansions in Miami’s “billionaire bunker” neighbourhood over the past few months. The ‘hood is on an artificial barrier island.

In October, Bezos bought a seven-bedroom mansion for US$79 million, which is next to another waterfront mansion he bought for US$68 million earlier this summer.

As the name suggests, Bezos’ new, exclusive neighbourhood is home to a handful of ultra-high-net-worth people, including sports superstars and pop celebrities.

“Billionaire bunker”, officially known as Indian Creek, is a heavily guarded man-made barrier island complete with its own police force. The exclusive village has 41 residential home sites and is one of highest income neighbourhoods in the country, with consistently fewer than 100 residents, according to the Miami-Dade Beacon Council.

So who else has – or had – property in this luxury neighbourhood?
