1. Chris Hemsworth
He’s a Marvel icon, arguably becoming the face of modern action films. But after 12 years in Hollywood and a milestone birthday, Hemsworth has spent much of 2023 reflecting on his life and trying to figure out his “meaning”.
In an interview with GQ magazine, the Aussie actor said that he has spent years actively trying to avoid being alone with his thoughts, choosing to focus on work and his career.
The Hollywood heartthrob, who first entered acting with a role on Aussie soap opera Home and Away, told the publication that after his grandfather died, he began thinking about his own life. During the filming of National Geographic series Limitless, it emerged that Hemsworth has two copies of the APOE4 gene, which means his risk factor for Alzheimer’s – the same disease his grandfather had – is eight to 12 times the average. That lead to the comic book icon actor re-evaluating his life and choosing to focus on the things that are important: ensuring longevity, prioritising his family and making a difference. Oh, and surfing. He’s a really good surfer.
