  • Lizzo has been in the spotlight for controversial reasons lately – her former dancers filed a lawsuit against her, accusing the Grammy-winning star of creating a hostile work environment while on tour
  • The singer has made and spent her millions wisely, from endorsements with Dove, Urban Decay, Absolut Vodka, Google Pixel 6, Logitech and Quay, to buying amazing properties

Since making her debut nearly a decade ago, Lizzo has climbed the ranks to become one of the top pop stars of today. And with that comes millions in the bank.

But lately the singer has been in the spotlight for more controversial reasons. According to CNBC, three of her former dancers have filed a lawsuit against her, accusing the Grammy award-winning singer of creating a hostile work environment while on tour. The report was filed earlier this week and states that Lizzo’s former dancers were weight-shamed and pressured while at a strip club, among other allegations. Lizzo has since denied the accusations, calling them “sensationalised stories”, as reported by The Guardian.

Lizzo has long been hailed for her body positivity promotion and authenticity. It’s unclear how this lawsuit will change things yet, but it will surely leave a mark on her career in future.

After breaking up with her first band in 2011, Lizzo moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and caught the attention of the state’s music legend, Prince. She performed on his 2014 song “Boy Trouble”.

“When I got my first big cheque from Prince, I decided it would go for three months’ rent and buying myself a laptop,” she told Texas Music in 2019. “And I treat myself to food – I love food.”

Her song “Truth Hurts” made her a force in the music business
