Peek at Gwyneth Paltrow’s Montecito home, on Airbnb for US$0: the Marvel actress is giving away a 1-night stay at her airy guest house – complete with Goop goodies – in a bid to combat ‘loneliness’
- Paltrow announced on Instagram that she’s partnered with Airbnb to give away a one-night stay at her Montecito home for up to two guests – as she wants to ‘make the world a little less lonely’
- Some netizens called her ‘out of touch’, but the Goop founder’s home is a beauty – and the lucky winners will also have a chance to dine with Paltrow and her husband in the house’s ‘wine room’
It’s another day ending in -y, and Gwyneth Paltrow is yet again facing public blowback. This time she’s being “called out of touch” for her partnership with Airbnb that she said is aimed “to make the world a little less lonely”.
Paltrow touted the brand partnership as a way to combat widespread loneliness from the pandemic. “Loneliness is a human condition, but in the past few years, increased isolation and our lack of community has made our lives even more fragmented,” the actress captioned the video tour. “@Airbnb had the brilliant idea of doing something to make the world a little less lonely, which is why I’m inviting you to come stay at my Montecito guest house for a night.”
A spokesperson for Airbnb confirmed that the stay will be free, as the US$0 price will not change once the booking process opens.
Some commenters are appalled by the event, presuming that the rental would be out of their price range.
“You do realise the most [lonely] AND ISOLATED people are the most vulnerable in society and are often very poor!!!!!!!!” one commenter wrote.
