Who doesn’t recognise “Blowin’ in the Wind” or “The Times They are A-Changin’”?
You don’t need to be a blues or country fan to sing along to such hits by Bob Dylan, one of America’s greatest songwriters who rose to fame during the 1960s. His songs captured the tumultuous spirit of the times and became anthems for the anti-war and civil rights movements.
Born Robert Allen Zimmerman, he is the winner of 10 Grammy awards, an Academy Award, a Pulitzer Prize and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He has sold over 145 million albums and performed over 3,000 live shows.
Since 2006, the prolific artist has owned a stately mansion known as Aultmore House at Nethy Bridge in Scotland’s Cairngorm National Park. Unable to visit the home since before the pandemic, Dylan has now listed it for sale, accepting offers in excess of £3 million (US $3.9 million).
