Hong Kong celebrity Panther Chan is mentoring new stars on ViuTV’s currently airing King Maker V alongside C Allstar’s On Chan, fellow artist Jay Fung and theatre actress Rosa Maria Velasco

Born and raised in Guangzhou, the singer-songwriter dropped her studies in design to pursue her passion for music in Hong Kong, debuting on the talent competition Asian Millionstar in 2009

Hong Kong’s currently airing reality show King Maker V sees star mentor Panther Chan and On Chan from boy group C Allstar going head-and-head against Jay Fung and theatre actress Rosa Maria Velasco in grooming promising new stars.

Panther’s straight-shooting approach not only increased the reality show’s topicality but also raised her profile.

1. From Guangzhou dreamer to Hong Kong star

Born and raised in Guangzhou, Chan was exposed to Hong Kong and Taiwanese pop stars at a young age, which sparked her love for music.

She saw the opportunity to make her singing dreams a reality at the age of 18 when a regional audition was held near her neighbourhood, per HK01. She decided to put her design studies on hold and followed her passion for music in Hong Kong.
