Inside ‘King of Mandopop’ Jay Chou’s ultra-rare car collection: from powerful hypercars like Pagani Huayra, McLaren Senna and Lamborghini Veneno, to vintage classics and a bespoke Batmobile
- Taiwanese superstar Jay Chou owns the ultra-rare Pagani Huayra, McLaren Senna, Lamborghini Veneno and a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 edition that appeared in his 2011 music video ‘Sports Car Model’
- The multimillionaire musician is also into vintage classics like the Dodge Charger – and he bought the Toyota AE86 he drove in 2005 film Initial D, but later gifted it to Chinese celebrity Karry Wang
Megastar Jay Chou has reached superstardom since the release of his debut album two decades ago. Not only is the singer-songwriter, actor and director multitalented and tremendously successful in his career, he’s also an avid art collector.
He also has a fashion label called Phantaci. Scrolling through his social media, we can see he knows his rare watches and vintage wines, too – yet it might be his automotive collection that stands out the most.
Here are some stunning examples, ranging from limited-edition supercars and hypercars to classic and bespoke one-offs.
1. McLaren Senna
This is one of Chou’s recent purchases. Launched in 2019 and named after legendary Formula One racing driver Ayrton Senna, there are only 500 of this exact model around the world, per NM Plus. The fastest track-focused road hypercar features a highly recognisable top-mounted exhaust system with three outlet pipes.
Other than Chou, fellow McLaren Senna owners include Aaron Kwok and Jimmy Lin, who both are renowned car aficionados in showbiz, per HK01.
2. Pagani Huayra
As the Italian carmaker only produces around 40 cars per year with hand-built processes, any Pagani that exists in the world would be considered a rare collectible. The Pagani Huayra was named “The Hypercar of the Year 2012” by Top Gear magazine when it was launched, with only 100 units manufactured. Its six-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine was especially developed by Mercedes-AMG. Chou’s Huayra can be seen in his 2014 music video “Yang-Ming Mountain”.
