  • Novak Djokovic has won Grand Slam titles wearing Hublot Big Bang Meca-10 and Naomi Osaka released her own signature Tag Heuer, but they cost nowhere near Rafael Nadal’s record-breaking Richard Mille
  • Serena Williams’ Royal Oak Black Panther is inspired by Marvel lore, mimicking the colour of vibranium, and its unique model was the most expensive Audemars Piguet ever sold at an auction

The second Grand Slam of 2023 season is coming up next month and tennis fans are eager to see the best players on the court – as well as the best watches on their wrists. For decades, tennis stars have become ambassadors for the world’s top-notch watchmakers, wearing some of the most coveted timepieces to their matches.

Here are seven tennis superstars’ priciest watches.

7. Naomi Osaka – Tag Heuer Aquaracer x Naomi Osaka (US$4,050)

As an ambassador of Tag Heuer since 2021, Naomi Osaka collaborated with the brand to launch her own signature timepiece last year. The Tag Heuer Aquaracer x Naomi Osaka comes in a shade of green, reflecting the colour of the tennis ball, including the dial and the straps made from recycled fishing nets – a tribute to Osaka’s environmental advocacy.

At 36mm, the watch is also elegant with diamond hour markers and a ceramic bezel. According to Tag Heuer’s website, the caseback is adorned with the tennis star’s official logo: a bear holding a flower, a symbol of strength and femininity. It is limited to 300 pieces and is exclusively available in the United States, Japan and Australia for US$4,050.

Osaka’s predecessor, Russia’s legend Maria Sharapova, collected dozens of different models from Tag Heuer for herself after becoming its ambassador in 2004 when she was only 17, she once shared in an interview. Among them, her favourite line was Carrera and her Carrera Lady had the heftiest price tag: US$4,100.
