Inside Anant Ambani’s ultra-rare US$9 million Patek Philippe: the son of Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani rocked a Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300G watch at the NMACC’s grand opening in Mumbai
- Anant Ambani, the son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, was spotted wearing the luxury Swiss timepiece on the red carpet earlier this month, alongside Gigi Hadid, Zendaya, Tom Holland and Priyanka Chopra
- Calling it a horological masterpiece would be an understatement – the Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300 has been touted as the most complicated Patek ever made and the most expensive watch ever sold
Earlier this month, on April 3, a galaxy of stars from all over the world flocked to Mumbai to celebrate the grand opening of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai – a first-of-its-kind, state-of-the-art venue created to celebrate the rich cultural history of India.
Any watch connoisseur worth their salt would be aware of the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300G. It’s the most complicated Patek ever made, the Swiss watchmaker claims on its website. And with just a handful of them ever made, it’s almost impossible to spot one.
But a grand occasion calls for a special watch, and the person rocking the horological unicorn was none other than Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani – Asia’s richest man – and Nita Ambani.
Patek Philippe released the Grandmaster Chime Ref. 5175 as part of its 175th anniversary celebration in 2014. Priced at US$2.5 million, the incredible timepiece was touted as the most complicated watch the brand had ever made. What’s more, the watch was limited to just six pieces, all in ornately engraved yellow-gold cases.
However, two years later, Patek Philippe released the second iteration of the Grandmaster Chime, Ref. 6300G, which replaced the engraved yellow-gold case with a white-gold version along with some more changes.
