Song Hye-kyo’s luxury wardrobe staples: Netflix’s The Glory star is Fendi and Chaumet obsessed, but also champions Korean brands Avouavou and Michaa and goes casual in Sporty & Rich
There’s no dimming Song Hye-kyo’s star. Since debuting in 1996, the South Korean actress has featured in so many top-rated dramas we’ve lost count, with several becoming worldwide hits. From Full House in 2004 to Descendants of the Sun, Autumn in my Heart and most recently on Netflix’s The Glory, which returns to screens on March 10.
Timeless and elegant are the words that best describe Song’s signature style, and below, we take a closer look at her wardrobe, from the designer brands she wears, to where she wore them, and the story behind the pieces.
Fendi fan
In February 2021, Song was selected as the first Korean ambassador of Italian fashion house Fendi. Since then, she’s often worn the brand and attended its fashion shows, as well as headlining its recent collections on the covers of Vogue Korea, Harper’s Bazaar Korea and Elle Korea, to name a few.
Song often shares her editorial looks on her Instagram, with the most recent ones featuring Fendi’s utilitarian-meets-glam pieces, like cargo mini skirts, jackets and silk trousers.
Recent sightings of Song clad in Fendi include her appearance at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza party for the opening of the Palazzo Fendi Seoul flagship, where she wore a look from the brand’s spring/summer 2023 ready-to-wear collection.
She was also spotted at the Fendi baguette bag’s 25th anniversary celebration in New York last September, wearing a chic all-black look consisting of a waxed leather jacket, crackled skirt, nylon tights – and her own white leather baguette bag, of course.
Last year, it was a memorable sight seeing Song attending the brand’s haute couture autumn/winter show in all her post-lockdown Fendi glory. Her outfit, simple yet sophisticated, made waves on the internet. She graced the front row in a matching suit jacket and mini shorts, carrying an ISeeU petite bag in brown houndstooth wool.
A quick glance at her Instagram reveals more of her Fendi looks from years gone by too – donning a casual outfit with a Fendi bag, lounging in a soft white day dress, and posing in a body-tight logo dress, to name just a few.
Korean brand champion
A global style icon, Song also proudly elevates key pieces from home-grown Korean brands to the world fashion stage – the most notable two being Michaa and Avouavou.
Song often wears Michaa’s modern business casual looks in photoshoots, the brand instantly recognisable for its mid-length shirt dresses, office-ready tweeds and day-to-night coats.
Meanwhile, when gracing events for Chaumet, Song has opted to wear Avouavou on more than one occasion; the dove grey tube-cut dress she wore to the jewellery brand’s gala dinner in Seoul last September was by Avouavou.
Another iconic Avouavou look was this black ensemble – a fitted top and floor-length tulle skirt – that she wore to perfectly match her regal Chaumet jewels at another gala event last summer.
Stunning in full Chaumet regalia
Always a picture of elegance, Song’s role as Chaumet ambassador, a position she’s held since 2018, is a match made in heaven. She’s donned several Chaumet jewellery sets over the years, many of which she’s worn with chic, timeless outfits.
At the aforementioned gala night in Paris, Song flaunted the Ondes et Merveilles de Chaumet “Gulfstream” necklace and earrings, made with white gold, emerald and sapphire gemstones.
Another show-stopping look was when Song looked every inch a modern day princess in the brand’s diamond-encrusted Dentelle de Lumière tiara by Chaumet.
Song’s choice of casual wear
Off-duty, Song is seen wearing casual pieces from clothing and apparel brand Sporty & Rich, as per her Instagram. She was also the muse in shoe brand Suecomma Bonnie’s previous campaigns.
An actress seemingly without limits, Song’s style seems to be the same – versatile yet authentic, with an ability to look good in everything from high fashion and high jewellery brands to dressed-down casual wear.
