Shloka Mehta is one of the more accessible Ambani women – not just because she appears in public often, but because of her traditional clothing choices. Her authenticity and confidence have made her something of a fashion icon in India, and she loves to champion local designers wherever possible.

But don’t think for a second this means Mehta isn’t bold with her looks – quite the opposite. When it comes to traditional wear, she wholeheartedly embraces the vibrant and patterned colours that Indian fashion in known for.

Although Mehta rarely gives interviews, she has previously said she wants to be known for more than her money. She embraces her culture and appreciates local Indian designers – instilling a sense of pride in choosing traditional wear for global red carpets has become her trademark.
Here are four outfits that she made the biggest impact in …
1. Queen of the colour pop

Mehta is not one to shy away from bright colours. In this twist on a traditional trend, she wore a canary yellow gota tukdi ghagra. Vogue India explains that gota is simply gold and silver lace from the city of Lucknow. The lace is made from metal-coated yarn and includes ribbons of fibres like cotton and polyester. The blouse is fuchsia pink, outlined in gold and yellow for a pop of colour. She braided her hair, creating a soft look in contrast to her bold make-up.
2. Golden glam

Mehta is widely reported as being a firm fan of Indian designer Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. The relationship between Mehta and the label’s couturier Sandeep Khosla was no doubt cemented back in 2019 when she wore one of his custom lehengas (an ankle-length skirt traditionally worn in India) at her wedding.

According to Shaadiwish, a basic lehenga made by the designer can set a customer back thousands of dollars. This outfit had an ultra-soft pink as its base and was accessorised with gold and silver embellishments. Mehta complemented the outfit with a pair of statement green earrings and necklace. For her make-up, she chose to go natural with gentle smoky eyes and minimal lip.
3. Details matter

Mehta turned heads at Armaan Jain’s wedding back in 2020 when she wore a multi-hued and panelled lehenga by designer Sabyasachi. Green, pink, yellow, green, orange and red created a colour fusion that only she could pull off.
She wore a green blouse with her signature traditional lehenga skirt. The skirt had an unusual featured border and her choice of an elaborate emerald choker complimented the outfit. India Today reported that she wore a smoky eye and a simple blush pink lipstick.
