But Francia Raisa wasn’t mentioned in the project at all despite donating a kidney to Gomez in 2017 – the singer even claimed Taylor Swift was her ‘only friend in the industry’

Selena Gomez just released her all new Apple TV+ documentary My Mind & Me, in which she gives her fans a realistic and brutal glimpse into the mental struggles she had to suffer over the past six years.

Though the documentary has a powerful message, the singer made the biggest headlines for a different reason: not giving a shout out to Francia Raisa, her best friend who saved her life with a kidney transplant back in 2017.

What’s more, Gomez caused a stir in the documentary when she said Taylor Swift is her only friend in the industry.

Just what happened between Gomez and Raisa and what made their great friendship fall apart?

The first meeting

Disney actress-turned-singer Gomez, 30, and How I Met Your Father actress Raisa, 34, maintained a close relationship for a long time. The girls became friends when they met each other in 2007 during a charity event.

Raisa told Latina magazine in 2013 that they saw each other at the Children’s Hospital and the two instantly clicked. Afterwards, they would often gush about each other on social media and even refer to each other as “sisters”.

The life-saving kidney transplant

In 2007, Gomez was diagnosed with the inflammatory disease Lupus and the only way to save her life was through a kidney transplant. And, like a true friend, Raisa stepped up to volunteer for the transplant. Once she was found to be a match, she underwent surgery and donated her kidney to Gomez, as per 7news.
