Inside Elvis Presley’s honeymoon hideaway: The King stayed at the ‘The House of Tomorrow’ with Priscilla Presley after a quickie Las Vegas wedding, and Lisa Marie was born nine months later …
- The futuristic Palm Springs home was made famous as Look magazine’s ‘House of Tomorrow’ – so when Elvis proposed to Priscilla there was only one wedding venue he had in mind
- The location was recommended by his manager Colonel Tom Parker and also hosted The Rat Pack over the years – now the famous honeymoon house is on sale for US$5.65 million
In the 1960s, Elvis Presley was one of the world’s most popular entertainers and could afford any honeymoon spot in the world. And Look was one of America’s most popular magazines with millions of readers every issue.
In 1962, a new home in Palm Springs was featured by the magazine as the “House of Tomorrow”.

Unlike the boxy-shaped homes of the era, its curvilinear floor plan and futuristic features – such as an indoor kitchen grill, central vacuuming system, and wall-mounted radios – made the home stand out from its competitors.
Looking a bit like our concept of a flying saucer back in the day, the home was recommended to Elvis by his manager, Colonel Tom Parker, near Parker’s own home in Palm Springs.
Elvis had met his future wife, Priscilla Wagner, in Bad Nauheim, Germany in 1959 during his service in the army.
Although she was only 14, Elvis couldn’t get Priscilla out of his mind and their budding relationship turned into a marriage proposal just before Christmas in 1966.
