4 times Hwang Min-hyun proved he’s K-pop’s ‘Prince Charming’: besides his royal-looking onstage attire with Wanna One and Nu’Est, the Netflix K-drama star is apparently charming too
- The K-pop-idol-turned-actor recently starred in Netflix’s Alchemy of Souls, but was on Mnet’s Produce 101 season 2 and debuted with Nu’Est, and Wanna One before
- Brands love him too: when Nu’Est’s Aron shared that Hwang’s favourite perfume was from Kiehl’s, the skincare label used the fact as promo material for fans
So, what exactly makes this 26-year-old bona-fide K-pop royalty?
His prince-like appearance
Aside from his vocal talent, Hwang is also widely known for his handsome looks, and for dressing in a prince-worthy wardrobe. So much so that his nickname, Hwang-jae – which means emperor and is a pun on his last name – is also royalty related. It seems like his agency knows it too, since he is frequently dressed in outfits that exude elegance and glamour.
In fact, his nickname originated from a Nu’Est Needle & Bubble comeback, where fans thought Hwang’s visuals captured that of a prince so accurately that they attached the nickname, All K-Pop reports. Meanwhile, his appearance in Wanna One’s 2021 MAMA performance also shone a spotlight on his beauty, according to Koreaboo, who wrote that his “sweet voice and equally sweet face were lethal combinations”.
His kind, gentle personality
Hwang is known for his kind character traits. He was chosen by his fellow Nu’Est members as the most considerate, and is often praised for his good manners and politeness, according to Namuwiki.
Staff have also said that when filming his solo music video, he claimed he enjoyed walking and always left the elevator for the staff to use while he took the stairs. Some people really do tick all the boxes, and Hwang seems to be one of them.
