The luxurious Achiul neighbourhood in Guri, Gyeonggi province, a hideaway east of central Seoul, has been mentioned a lot in Korean media recently as A-list K-biz stars have flocked to the area to buy and build homes.
Sat in a prime spot next to a peaceful hilly area yet only around a half-an-hour drive from the hustle and bustle of the capital’s downtown, the neighbourhood is becoming known as an artists’ village thanks to all the writers, K-drama actors and K-pop stars calling it home.
To get a feel for the area, let’s meet some of its famous residents …
1. Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin
The lavish penthouse is designed to impress with floor-to-ceiling windows, a state-of-the-art kitchen and cosy bedrooms, promising a comfortable family life ahead for the stars of hit K-drama Crash Landing on You (2019 and 2020).
2. Han So-hee
Her successful acting career has seen her amass significant wealth, and she treated herself to a US$1.6 million house in Achiul village, paying in cash, in December 2021, as reported by AllKpop.
