Meet Hrithik Roshan’s new girlfriend, Saba Azad – the Bollywood star and niece of Indian theatre legend Safdar Hashmi, who Roshan can’t stop showing love to on Instagram
- She’s starred in Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge and Netflix’s Feels Like Ishq, and owns a theatre company, following in the footsteps of her late uncle Hashmi
- The 31-year-old is one half of Madboy/Mink with Imaad Shah, which Roshan’s ex-wife Sussanne Khan approves of, according to her Instagram comments
But Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan isn’t a fan of keeping his love life hush-hush, apparently, as he’s been flaunting his new flame Saba Azad all over social media. Not only does the Krrish actor sing her praises on Instagram, even his ex-wife Sussanne Khan has showed some love on Azad’s posts.
So who is this lucky lady and what do we know about her?
1. She is an actress and a theatre veteran
Saba Singh Grewal, known professionally as Saba Azad, made her debut in Dil Kabaddi (2008), but gained mainstream fame after appearing in the cult hit film Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge (2011). She was recently seen in last year’s Netflix’s anthology Feels Like Ishq (2021) and in this year’s SonyLIV biopic series Rocket Boys. She has also acted in short films, including Ishaan Nair’s Guroor, which won an award at the Dusty Film Festival.
Azad is also known for her stage work and even started her own theatre company called The Skins. She has worked with Safdar Hashmi, Habib Tanvir and MK Raina at the Indian Theatre.
2. She is also an indie musician (and a trained dancer)!
The 31-year-old is also popular among India’s indie music scene thanks to her electro-funk band called Madboy/Mink, which she formed with Imaad Shah in 2012. “Our paths crossed, and we realised we were into the same things – musically and aesthetically. We started to jam, and before we even had a band, we were booked for a gig,” Azad told Mumbai Mirror in an interview.
They described their music genre as high energy dance music with “doses of disco, cabaret and punk”.
