Inside John Legend and Chrissy Teigen’s New York penthouses that just went on sale: the LA-based couple planned to combine the two Nolita flats – now listed for US$18 million – into a mega-property
- Joined up, the units in the historic Brewster Carriage House would have more than 6,000 sq ft – but the famous couple now want something more manageable
- Right across from Little Italy and just blocks from Chinatown, Nolita is a cool and sophisticated neighbourhood once home to David Bowie and Iman
Busy as they are with TV, music, cooking, a new skincare line, not to mention raising two children, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen hardly have the time to oversee the restoration and combination of two contiguous New York penthouses.
So they are selling the two penthouse units in the Brewster Carriage House in Manhattan’s Nolita neighbourhood that they only recently bought with plans to combine them into one huge residence on two floors, with over 3,300 sq ft of rooftop terraces.
Spending almost all their time in California, All of Me singer Legend, 43, and model and television host Teigen, 36, have decided to discontinue the project and have put the two flats on the market at US$18 million.
Still expecting to be in the Big Apple part time, the glamour couple plan to look for another New York home that will be less work.
Nolita, in Lower Manhattan, is on the edge of all the sights and sounds that make the city such a fascinating place to live, with ethnic dining, shopping and weekend explorations close at hand. The area was once home to David Bowie and Iman, and actor Gabriel Byrne and singer Vanessa Carlton currently live nearby. Built in 1900, the Brewster Carriage House is directly across the street from Little Italy and three blocks from Chinatown.
