  • Netizens were shocked by the resemblance between the world’s richest person and the man nicknamed Elon Mosaic and Yi Long Musk – but might it just be artificial intelligence?

Folk wisdom suggests that everyone has a doppelgänger. Some people even believe that everyone has at least seven lookalikes around the world, not just one. They could be the perfect duplicate of you, with your mother’s eyes, your father’s nose, and maybe even better hair!

The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, seems to have found one of his lookalikes in China. In the eastern China province of Jiangsu, a man from Suzhou – whose name isn’t known – became an overnight sensation due his uncanny resemblance to the SpaceX and Tesla CEO. There has already been so much brouhaha over their resemblance that the viral news has reached the 50-year-old billionaire himself.

A video of the man was posted to Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok. In the video, he is seen standing next to a luxurious car and smiling.

Commentators were quick to point out the similarities between the man and Musk, and the observation spread like wildfire across Facebook and Twitter.

According to News.com.au, even Musk couldn’t ignore the resemblance and replied jokingly, “Maybe I’m partly Chinese!” in a tweet sent on December 20.

The incident prompted netizens to come up with funny names for the doppelgänger. Some called him Elon Mosaic, while one called him Clone Musk. One netizen even christened the man with a Chinese name, Yi Long Musk, reports Yahoo! News.

Many found it hard to believe the resemblance between the two, and suggested the doppelgänger might have used artificial intelligence face swap technology to mimic the features of Musk.
