The Duke and Duchess of Sussex famously shut down their @sussexroyal Instagram account in March 2020 when they stepped back from royal life, opting to live a more private existence. But could they be missing out on another form of revenue by not being on social media?

A recent survey by money.co.uk in collaboration with Influencer Marketing Hub found that royal Instagram accounts have the potential of earning tens of thousands of dollars per sponsored post – if they were ever a little short of cash. The survey is also a good insight into which royals have the most followers and engagement globally.
We took a look at the top 10 royal influencers and their social media earning potential.
1. Prince William and Kate Middleton
Topping the list is Britain’s king and queen-in-waiting with their @dukeandduchessofcambridge Instagram account, which has more than 13 million followers. According to the study, Kate Middleton and Prince William have a potential earning of up to US$43,360 per sponsored post.
