Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William have been taking on more royal engagements as Queen Elizabeth slowly delegates duties to her son Prince Charles and her grandchildren.
A she steps into her 10th year of marriage to the prince, Middleton’s sartorial choices seem to have matured too. Always elegant and sophisticated, she’s also known to be economical, occasionally repeating outfits and often championing local brands. Kate’s wardrobe has often been praised by royal style watchers for managing to embody both the traditional and the contemporary.
In May, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went on a royal tour to Scotland, including a visit to St Andrews, where the couple first met. Kate once again turned the spotlight onto British brands such as Erdem, Temperley London, Emmy London and Métier London, as well as international high-street labels like Zara and Massimo Dutti.

Here’s what worked – and what didn’t.
On day four of the royal tour, Middleton’s look was centred around an aqua blue coat dress from Catherine Walker, coupled with a pair of Rebecca Riviera suede pumps from Emmy London, and finished with a blue topaz pendant from British fine jewellery brand Kiki McDonough. The Duchess sported a navy, embossed Multrees Chain Wallet from Strathberry, a Scotland-based brand Meghan Markle often carries too.
In late May, the Duchess met the five-year-old cancer patient Mila Sneddon at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh. For the occasion, Kate chose an outfit to match Sneddon’s baby pink princess dress. She stepped out in a pastel pink silk shirt dress from Me+Em, which is priced at US$635. She accessorised the look with a skinny belt from contemporary British brand Boden, and a pair of pink pointed-toe pumps from Emmy London, a label she often sports.
