This year will see two new housewives, including the show’s first Asian-American member, Crystal Kung Minkoff. The 35-year-old has already piqued many fans’ interest with her lavish lifestyle, extraordinary family background and her opinion on the current spike in Asian-American hate crime. She says being a descendant of Confucius is a big part of her life
The Northridge-born food entrepreneur studied biology and history at the University of California Irvine. She also revealed in a promo for the show that she is a 76th generational descendant of Chinese philosopher Confucius, saying it’s been “a big part of her life and the way she raises her family”.
In 2019, Crystal visited the Kong Family Mansion in Qufu, China – Confucius’ hometown – explaining that she was “diving deeper into understanding the teachings of my [her] ancestor Confucius” during the visit.
