  • The I Got Love hitmaker often sends coffee trucks to the filming sets of her friends, such as Super Junior’s Heechul and bandmate Yoona
  • She has also donated so much to charity that she became a member of the Red Cross Honors Club – the first celebrity from North Jeolla to do so

South Korean singer-songwriter Kim Tae-yeon isn’t just recognised for her work with beloved K-pop group Girls’ Generation, but also for her soulful solo projects, since striking out alone as a solo Taeyeon in 2014.

It’s might be no surprise that the 31-year-old’s popularity both in South Korea and around the world has banked her millions, with net worth estimates starting at US$8 million, but how does she spend it?

She gives to charity

Taeyeon makes sure to share the fruits of her fame with those in need. In 2019, she reportedly donated 100 million won (US$88,000) to the Korean Red Cross to provide disadvantaged women and teenage girls with health and hygiene products such as sanitary pads. Her generosity helped her become the first celebrity from North Jeolla Province to make the Red Cross Honors Club (RCHC), as its 132nd member. She has also held charity concerts alongside other Girls’ Generation members in support of multicultural families.

She prioritises her physical and mental health

In 2019, the idol opened up about her struggles with mental health and depression on social media. During an impromptu Q&A session on Instagram Stories, she revealed that she was on medication, saying, “I am working hard to get better through treatment with antidepressants.”

Taeyeon also keeps fit by doing Pilates, occasionally sharing snaps of her sessions with fans.
