Along with the new year (and a new decade!) comes a wave of exciting new Korean dramas. Not only will there be fresh storylines and on-screen pairs to look forward to. There will also be sequels to a few beloved dramas that left fans hanging. Here's a list of the most anticipated K-dramas confirmed to air in 2020 so far:
Romantic Doctor Kim 2
Following the 2016 run of Dr. Romantic, Han Suk-kyu is back to play the role of Kim Sa-bu, who's known as the genius Teacher Kim and calls himself a romantic doctor. This time, he encounters Cha Eun-jae, played by Lee Sung-kyung, and Seo Woo-jin, played by Ahn Hyo-seop. The two talented doctors fatefully meet, thanks to Teacher Kim. Will they discover real romance? Tune in to Romantic Doctor Kim 2, starting January 2020, to find out.
Kingdom 2
Starring Ju Ji-hoon, Bae Doona and Ryu Seung-ryong, Kingdom was one of the most memorable Korean dramas of 2019 – and in March 2020 the much-awaited sequel finally airs. In its pilot season, the kingdom was faced with rumours of the king's death. The crown prince set out on a journey to find out the truth from the king's doctor. He then ended up discovering a vicious disease spreading among the people and turning them into the living dead. The season ended with a cliffhanger, and the story will continue to show how the remaining humans will conquer the wave of Joseon-era zombies.
Love Alarm 2
This drama revolves around Kim Jo-jo, played by Kim So-hyun, whose life hasn't always been easy. It gets more complicated when best friends Lee Hye-yeong and Hwang Sun-oh (played by Jung Ga-ram and Song Kang) both fall for her. Another factor that plays into the love triangle is the revolutionary app called Love Alarm. During the first season, Jo-jo was able to hide her true feelings because of a Love Alarm shield she received as a gift. As the story continues, see if it will play into their relationships and kindle their feelings once again.
That’s not all …
The following dramas are also in the works and have been confirmed to air next year. However, they don't have trailers yet.
Ssang Gap Pocha
This drama will be centred on a mysterious food cart that serves both living people and ghosts. It will star Hwang Jung-eum and Yook Sung-jae.
