Hublot delights collectors with Spirit of Big Bang Moonphase collection
Vibrant quartz dials attract attention and show two moons in the moonphase
Hublot’s Big Bang collection is always fun to view and its newest offerings are no exception.
The latest collection, dubbed “Spirit of Big Bang Moonphase”, helped inject Baselworld with a bit of gaiety with four models in bright colours: blue, purple, orange and pink.
The vibrant-coloured quartz dials instantly catch your attention – they are too fun to look away. To attain that eye-catching colour, the quartzes were made using a colouring technique that involved ingredients that Hublot will only mysteriously describe as “rare earth elements”.
The 42mm tonneau case comes in three options: satin-finished and polished titanium or satin-finished and polished 18ct King Gold. The bezel comes set with 48 gemstones (orange, pink or blue sapphires or amethysts) to match the colour of the dial. Straps of black rubber paired with alligator leather also come in matching colours.
The moonphase at 6 o’clock is especially beautiful on the timepieces, and uses semi-transparent discs that end up showing two moons instead of the traditional one. A date display is located between 1 o’clock and 2 o’clock, while a small seconds display is located at 9 o’clock.
Inside the timepiece ticks the HUB1770 calibre, a self-winding skeleton movement. It comes with a power reserve of 50 hours and is water-resistant to 100m.
