Robert Greubel, Stephen Forsey and Philippe Dufour's project to preserve the art of traditional watchmaking bears fruit
STORYJoanne Lam
What happens when you bring together watchmaking legends Robert Greubel, Stephen Forsey and Philippe Dufour? Magic.
The magic the trio created was the Le Garde Temps - Naissance d'une Montre project. With the goal of preserving the art of traditional watchmaking, the three entrusted a young watchmaking teacher to learn such techniques before they risk being permanently lost. After six years of dedicated research and hard work, the team presents its unique handmade tourbillion "Pièce École" timepiece. A prototype of the timepiece will be auctioned at Christie's in the 2016 spring sale in Hong Kong. All proceeds will be reinvested into the project.
