Remember that time in 2020-2021 when we were all taking online cocktail-making classes and doing virtual tastings from home while sipping ready-to-drink cocktails and convenience-store vino?

That, thankfully, is no longer the case, as the world has somewhat returned to pre-Covid normal. But with what’s trending in drinks and the way people are enjoying alcohol continuously shifting, Post Magazine takes a look at the sips that should be the heroes of 2023 as well as the ones we’re clicking pause on.

It grows on you

With increasing concern for the environment, we will seek wines that are organic, as well as sustainably produced and packaged. This will be the year of grower champagne, buzzwords that have long floated around the world of wine lovers.

Defined as wines made by the grape growers themselves, grower champagnes are seen to be a direct reflection of the climate and soil of their village.

These wines are less about consistency, which creates some fun and unique styles of champagne that you may not get in the bigger houses.

Getting salty

Savoury cocktails are on trend right now. Our palates seem to be craving salt and spice, with more bars showcasing savoury, umami-led drinks. Also, now that bartenders are taking a more culinary approach, a new spectrum of flavours has been unlocked – and consumers are loving it.
