Spice up your weekly brunch with Hushup's secret shenanigans

Brunch in Hong Kong can be a little predictable; from the mediocre buffet stations to the free-flowing fizz, we all know the drill.
Hushup - the company that gave us the Secret Island Party (a weekend music festival) and rooftop and hot-tub cinemas showing classic 1980s movies such as and - is on a mission to change that with the Secret Brunch Club.
"I wanted to create something that's not already out there in Hong Kong's party scene, something original," says Hushup founder Rachel Frost, a Briton who has been living in Hong Kong for four years.
Here's how it works: you book a ticket to the event then meet the other attendees at a prearranged spot for a drinks reception. Hushup will then transport the brunch bunch to a hitherto secret location.
As well as free-flowing cocktails and champagne and the usual buffet fare (Italian antipasto, sushi, etc), the first brunch will include entertainment from DJ Melohman and a "light show" by Michael Hazen, a Discovery Bay-based flamethrower. There will also be face painting while Jipda - a Hong Kong florist - will give floral headdress-making classes.
"Secret Brunch Club events will be held at different venues around Hong Kong. But the location won't be revealed until you get escorted there, and each [brunch] will have a different theme," says Frost. "The secretive aspect gives excitement to our service."
