New restaurant openings in Hong Kong are dime a dozen. Far rarer is the dining destination that’s able to stand the test of time. Bombay Dreams is one such place. It celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, weathering many storms in the process – no easy feat in the city’s ever-evolving culinary landscape.

But far from resting on its laurels and established reputation, the restaurant has upheld its standards since opening its doors, earning a Michelin Bib Gourmand award for 12 consecutive years since 2009. Bombay Dreams remains a popular choice for group gatherings among families and friends, thanks to its crowd-pleasing menu filled with signature dishes and accompanying drinks.

With culinary director chef Qureshi at the helm in the kitchen and restaurant manager Ashutosh Bisht on the restaurant floor, diners can expect authentic and traditional Indian dishes with flair. In recent years, Bombay Dreams also boasts a new image, a more extensive wine list, an impressive whisky wall and a wide selection of Indian-inspired cocktails.

In 2021, Bombay Dreams moved to a new location, albeit one familiar to those who frequented the original restaurant, just a few doors down on Wyndham Street atop Lan Kwai Fong. In the new, revamped restaurant, interiors are elegant yet understated, with red and gold accents featured throughout. But while it may look different, the restaurant stays true to its roots in its offerings to patrons – quality Indian cuisine in a warm, welcoming environment.

Signature dishes include a tandoori pomfret, guchchi matar – slow-cooked morel mushrooms with green peas, onions, tomatoes and garlic – and a malai jheenga curry with prawns in a rich, creamy sauce.

Extending the milestone anniversary celebrations into the new year, a host of events will be taking place in January 2023, from new tasting menus to whisky pairing events and more.

The celebrations continue with a series of Bollywood evenings featuring a live DJ and mixology featuring flavourful Indian spices, leaving no more incentive required to reserve a table. In keeping with its name, Bombay Dreams looks to celebrate the dreams of others, too, and exhibit the works of emerging artists on its walls.
