JW Café
JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong, Pacific Place, 88 Queensway, Hong Kong, 2810 8366
JW Café takes over the old Marriott Café space and is back as a favourite for buffet aficionados. The interior, created by MOK Design and Associates, seats 216 patrons and contains a private dining room for 12, and a semi-private dining space for 10 with views of Victoria Harbour.
Executive sous chef Tony Wong is back to serve up international and local cuisines. Buffet dining (breakfast HK$298 per adult, HK$178 per child; lunch from HK$388 per adult, HK$268 per child; dinner from HK$618 per adult, HK$398 per child) is the main feature. There is a wide choice from 11 show kitchens, and the buffet stations include a Shanghai appetiser section, a sushi bar, a noodle bar, Western selections, a dessert corner, and a cold cuts and salad counter.
Signature Chinese specialities are impressive with braised fish maw with supreme sauce, braised sea cucumber with superior oyster sauce; steamed grouper with crab roe, baked stuffed crab and e-fu noodles with Boston lobster claw. The cold seafood selection includes Boston lobster, snow crab legs, Mathew crab, mussels, Greenland red prawns and sea whelks. My favourite is the excellent Peking duck, sliced and wrapped upon request, but also check out the extensive selection of desserts.
