This week we feature a hypnotising video of twin typhoons from outer space, down to a pet pig - in an actual blanket - that is stealing hearts in China. 
Raw footage captures Bangkok bomb blast 

A bomb struck Bangkok's Erwawan Shrine on Monday night, killing at least 21 people, including two Hongkongers, and injuring more than 120 others. The attack took place close to some of Bangkok’s most popular upscale shopping malls and a busy street at 6.30 pm, where several out and about in the bustling city.
Video caught from cellphones and dash-cams capture the frightening moment the bomb exploded. Thailand’s defence minister said the attack was perpetrated by foreigners in an attempt to damage Thailand's tourist industry, one of the country's biggest boosters for its economy. 
Hamming it up for the cameras: pet pig Wuhua

Meet Wuhua, a pet pig that's taken China by storm. In the video, her owner explains how the three-year old pig became hers (purchased on online shopping site Taobao) and says it's been a joy to train her despite the animal's overpowering and smelly ruts. 
Wuhua has quickly become a viral sensation. In China, she's been to a few photo shoots for food magazines and her owners' friends keep asking why the animal hasn't already been a "spokes-pig" for a ham brand. The owner, however, says she just wants her pet to be healthy and happy. 
Flying above the City of Angels

News website Mashable describes it thus: "Six minutes of aerial footage of LA is better than 'True Detective' Season 2". SCMP Multimedia Editor Silvio Carrillo could not agree more. The video is a series of beauty shots of many iconic Los Angeles spots, and it's easy to imagine that True Detective actor Vince Vaughn would (grudgingly) agree this is better than watching him in a role of a gangster. Ouch.

Japanese satellite captures twin typhoons Goni and Atsani

When our planet joins forces with technology, marvellous things can happen. In this stunning and hypnotising video captured by the Japanese weather satellite Himawari-8, which is currently coasting 35,400 kilometres above the Pacific, we can see twin typhoons from October 1997 Goni (left) and Atsani (right) swirling. Fun fact: it's the first time in 18 years that twin typhoons were spotted. The last one appeared in the same year that a major El Niño phenomenon took place. 
NBA great Shaquille O'Neal says China will have another Yao Ming soon

Basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal stopped by Hong Kong this week to drum up buzz for L.I.F.E (Let It Fly Energy), an energy drink. But while it was all business for the 7-foot-1 former NBA player, O'Neal took five minutes out of his day to give SCMP.tv an exclusive chat about the future of basketball in China and the possiblity of a Yao Ming clone.
