Blood! Gore! Ghosts! Ghouls! It’s that time of year again, when sexy nurses prowl the streets and businesses overuse the word “spooktacular”.

Although social distancing measures remain in place in Hong Kong, organised events are permitted and so is trick-or-treating, as long as you stay in groups of four or less.

Many restaurants will be getting their cobwebs and skulls out of storage – Frank’s Italian-American Social Club, on Wyndham Street, in Central, has invited guests to “Get freaky at Frankentiki – a one of a kind Halloween shindig”, for instance – but the city’s hotels have beastly staycations planned for this year, too.
