Romance – with sides of thrills and fantasy – is in the air, judging by the latest casting announcements for Korean drama series.
1. The Hunter with a Scalpel
Currently playing a character enduring a domestic nightmare in Perfect Family, Park Ju-hyun has been linked with a new drama thriller called The Hunter with a Scalpel. Also headhunted for the series is Kang Hoon (A Time Called You).
Park has reportedly been offered the role of Se-hyun, a celebrated medical examiner with an antisocial personality who has been traumatised by the murder of her father.
Kang is in talks for the role of Jung Jung-hyun, a police officer who believes that people are inherently good and throws himself into all of his investigations.
His life soon becomes entangled with Se-hyun’s.

Based on the novel of the same name penned by Choi Yi-do, The Hunter with a Scalpel will air on JTBC.
2. The Witch
Park Jin-young of the boy band GOT7, previously seen in The Devil Judge, and Roh Jeong-eui (Hierarchy) have officially signed on to star in The Witch, an adaptation of the webtoon of the same name by Moving mastermind Kang Full.
This mystery romance will follow the story of a woman who is labelled a witch and forced to leave her hometown after all the men who liked her there wind up dead or injured. It will also follow the man striving to protect her.

Handling the director’s reins will be Kim Tae-kyun, who is known for the big-screen thriller Dark Figure of Crime with Ju Ji-hoon.
Published in 2013, The Witch webtoon was originally set to be adapted into Chinese- and Korean-language films back in 2015 by filmmaker Kim Dae-woo (The Servant).
This series adaptation will be broadcast on Channel A in the first half of 2025.
3. Gyunwoo and Fairy
All of Us Are Dead actress Cho Yi-hyun is circling a lead role in the fantasy romance webtoon adaptation Gyunwoo and Fairy.
Also approached to appear in the series is Choo Young-woo (Oasis). The actors previously shared the screen in School 2021.

Cho is looking at the part of Park Sung-ah, a high-school student living a double life as a shaman. When she learns that her first love’s life is in danger, she sets out to save him, in the process kindling something between them. Cho’s role was previously offered to Choi Sung-sun (My Name is Loh Kiwan).
Choo is considering the role of the bad-luck-prone Bae Hyun-woo, Sung-ah’s first love.
Sitting in the director’s chair will be Kim Yong-wan, who is known for directing the Yeon Sang-ho-scripted The Cursed series and film, as well as If You Wish Upon Me and Netflix’s The Whirlwind.
The series is eyeing a 12-episode run on tvN at some point in 2025.
4. I am Human From Today
Broadcaster SBS has confirmed that Kim Hye-yoon (Lovely Runner) and Lomon (All of Us Are Dead) will lead its coming fantasy romantic comedy I am Human From Today.

Kim plays Eun-ho, a gumiho (aka a “nine-tailed fox”, a Korean mythological creature) who, unlike others of her kind, refrains from entrancing men and eating their livers and instead leads a carefree life. She enjoys her eternal youth and avoids doing anything that might turn her into a human.
Her plan is waylaid when she accidentally does become human thanks to the actions of the narcissistic football player Kang Si-yeol (Lomon). Si-yeol, a star player at an international club who routinely outshines his colleagues, also finds his life thrown into disarray thanks to Eun-ho.
Kim Jung-kwon (Love to Hate You) will direct the series from a script penned by Park Chan-young (Best Chicken). The show is set to air in 2025.
