The hit Song Joong-ki vehicle Reborn Rich came to an explosive end on December 25, its final episode notching up the second highest ratings ever in South Korea for a cable series (behind only The World of the Married), but many viewers were left disgruntled.
The series is adapted from Sang Gyung’s web novel The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate, yet its conclusion diverged significantly from the ending presented in the source text, prompting very mixed responses.
Song began the series as Yoon Hyun-woo, a loyal corporate lackey who is executed by members of the Soonyang Corporation he works for while on a trip to Turkey to retrieve their slush fund.
