Released on February 19, the five-track album is just under 15 minutes long, but there is depth in the brevity.

On the cover, there’s a single parenthesis surrounded by colons - :): – with the imagery of the dual smile/sad face reflecting the rapper’s world view. He has a matching tattoo on his wrist.

“I think ‘Duality’ is me,” he told the Post. “My head is very … there’s a lot of things going on. I’m very complicated, but I think about things very simply. I’m happy, but deep inside I’m a bit anxious as I’m sure I’m going to get unhappy too. At the same time [when] I’m unhappy, I hope I can become happy again.”

The title has a dual meaning: it’s not only about I.M on an emotional level, but also about who he is. Born Im Chang-kyun, he goes by the name I.M as a rapper, and straddles his identities as both an individual artist and a member of a group
