5 new Hong Kong coffee shops in January 2025, from Blue Bottle to China’s Luckin Coffee
Coffee lovers looking for new places to drink some in 2025 can choose between home-grown independents and imports from China and the US
It’s a new year, there’s a new you, and fittingly there are plenty of new coffee shops in Hong Kong to park yourself at and begin 2025 on a good note.
1. Blue Bottle Coffee Tung Chung
The American coffee chain has opened its first branch on Lantau Island, a spacious and light-filled cafe in Citygate Outlets resplendent with white surfaces and triple height floor-to-ceiling windows.
It has collaborated with Mui Wo’s Village Bakery to offer exclusive breads and pastries at this location, such as Japanese red bean brioche, croissants and banana bread.

2. Bakery by The Grand
There’s plenty to see in the new Hopewell Mall in Wan Chai, among them the bakery-cafe by The Grand, the group behind epic rotating buffet restaurant The Grand Buffet at the top of the Hopewell Centre. It offers plenty of seats and tempting pastries.
As well as the usual espresso-based coffees, the cafe also serves a small range of premium hand-drip coffees and coffee-based speciality drinks.

3. Grandma’s Coffee
Blink and you’d miss this tiny independent spot in Wan Chai, sandwiched between a property agency and an equally tiny shop selling takeaway hot chocolates.
